In Rising Wave of Immigrant Power, NYIC Action Candidates Clinch Victory in Primary Races

New York State—Despite new district maps throwing into question many races across New York State this year, NYIC Action’s slate of endorsed candidates clinched resounding victories in today's primary elections. While several races have yet to be called, it’s clear Albany is on the precipice of transformative change thanks to rising immigrant power across the state.

All endorsed candidates committed to NYIC Action’s political agenda, 2022: A Blueprint for New York State, an inclusive policy plan to ensure that every New Yorker can thrive.

Murad Awawdeh, Executive Director of NYIC Action, issued the following statement:

“Tonight, voters made it clear that the time is now to build a future for our state that includes every single one of us who calls New York home. With an overwhelming number of our endorsed candidates emerging victorious in their primary races, immigrant power is rising across New York State. While we still need to push these champions across the finish line in the November election, tonight’s election results are a clear triumph for immigrant New Yorkers. At a time when blatant racism and anti-immigrant hatred continues to be espoused by MAGA Republicans, the success of our endorsements illustrates the collective power of our communities. As we persist in our fight for justice and equity, our champions bring us one step closer in ensuring the voices of immigrant New Yorkers are lifted up and truly heard.”
