NYIC Action and OUR CITY Buffalo Endorse Kathryn Franco for Buffalo Common Council

New York Immigration Coalition’s 501(c)(4) organization mobilizes volunteers to support Franco in Common Council race

Buffalo, NY–Today, the New York Immigration Coalition’s political action organization, NYIC Action and OUR CITY Buffalo Coalition announced their endorsement of Kathryn Franco for the University District seat for Buffalo Common Council. NYIC Action and OUR CITY’s endorsement process consists of questionnaires, face-to-face interviews, candidate platform evaluations – proposed and envisioned – and a final vote from board members of NYSIAF.

Steve Choi, Executive Director of NYIC Action, issued the following statement:

“For years, Kathryn Franco has been fighting for the public good as a social worker, demonstrating her commitment to working directly with the community, for the community—not political or economic gain. We’re confident that she’ll bring her passion for social justice with her to Common Council to fight for progressive policies that protect and empower Buffalo’s communities. We need advocates like Franco, who are committed to welcoming immigrants and refugees, fighting for fair and affordable housing, improving and investing in public education, and advocating for restorative justice and police accountability, which is why we’re proud to support her candidacy for the University District seat.”

Kathryn Franco, candidate for University District Common Council, said:

“I am thrilled to have received the endorsement of the New York State NYIC Action Fund and Our City Coalition. The platform and agenda ideas expressed, aligned with my platform and values, where we live in a city that strives for progressive and inclusive policy that puts people over profit. I’m excited to give people in the University District options this year, an option that centers our voices."
